The
Quebec Thistle Council has approved the granting of awards comprising
cups, plaques, specially struck medals and guilded certificates
for nominees excelling in various fields of endeavour, including
all Scottish sports, crafts, dancing, music, piping, cuisine, etc.
There will also be special awards for those who, through their hard
work and achievement, have contributed to the preservation and maintenance
of Scottish culture and traditions in the Province of Quebec.
An
Awards Dinner and Ceilidh is held annually in the spring.
French,
English and Gaelic-speaking Scots throughout the Province are invited
to attend this fine function.
It
is a special day commemorating and celebrating Scots in the Province
of Quebec and their contributions to the establishment of our city,
province and country. It is an event affordable to all Scots and
one which will celebrate their culture and tradition. Above all,
it serves as an avenue to further awareness of the positive results
achieved through mutual co-operation and respect by two of our country's
founding groups - the continuing Auld Alliance!
On
this day, each year, both English and French-speaking Scots join
together in a colourful and happy celebration of their mutual heritage.
