McLEAN |
Clan McLean, Quebec, Canada, Inc., is a fully-autonomous corporation
constituted in 1989, under Part III of the Loi sur Compagnies
(I.R.Q., Chap 38, a218.)
In
November 1993, the Clan was formally accepted as a branch
of Clan MacLean Association International of Scotland, from
which it holds a Charter of Incorporation for Quebec.
The
Clan has been created with the purpose of regrouping all McLean
families in Quebec; i.e., persons bearing , either by birth
or by marriage, the surnames MCLEAN/MACLEAN in any of the
various forms and spellings, or that of any of its recognized
septs - Beaton, Black, Gillan, Lean, MacCormick, MacFadyn,
MacGillivray, Maclaine, MacVey, MacVay, Paton, Peden, Ranken,
Rankin, Rankine.
The
object of the association is to revive, foster and promote
clan interests and sentiments in Quebec and abroad by collecting
and preserving records and traditions which relate in any
way to clan history.
Since
its foundation, Clan McLean, Quebec, Canada, Inc., has averaged
a yearly membership of seventy, coming from four different
families of McLean. Many interesting gatherings have been
held since 1989, and a journal, "La Claymore", has
become the main means of communication between members. The
clan is represented on the Council of the Clan McLean Association
International, and now though the Internet there is a further
opportunity to maintain close contacts with the numerous world
wide branches.

CLAN MACLEOD SOCIETY |
Quebec Clan MacLeod Society, Montreal Branch, dormant since
1980, was revived in 1993 as part of the Clan MacLeod. Our society
is affiliated with the Canadian Clan MacLeod Society (National)
and the Associated Clan MacLeod Societies (International, with
headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland) and the Clans and Scottish
Societies of Canada.
It
is our aim, through Clan gatherings, hospitality to guests
near and far, Heritage Days, the Clan magazines (published
in Scotland) and the National as well as our own Society newsletters
to foster and develop an interest in and a love for the history,
folklore and music of the clan in Scotland and overseas. A
ceilidh is held in March, a picnic in June (with the Societies
in Glengarry and Ottawa) and a banquet in September. At these
we aim to preserve the rich tradition and heritage of the
MacLeod clan and encourage fellowhip both within the clan
and the community.
